FORMER Settle High School pupil George Roper could receive a third Emmy for his special effects work.
George, whose mother Margaret, and stepfather Ron Swift, live in Rathmell, has already received two of the TV oscars for his work on the films Merlin and Alice in Wonderland
In all, he has received five nominations. His latest is for his work on the acclaimed Walking with Beasts - a sequel to Walking with Dinosaurs.
Despite receiving two Emmys, this will be the first time George, who lives in London and works for Framestore CFC, has travelled to Hollywood for the ceremony.
George came to Settle in the sixth form where he studied four A-levels including art history and art. He then did a degree in graphic design and the moving image at Ravensbourne College in Kent.
After setting up a specialist audio visuality magazine, George obtained work experience with the BBC's graphics department. That was his opening to Framestore, a post-production company, which creates special effects for films, adverts and TV programmes.
George said: "For Walking with Beasts we had to create 3D fur which was not necessarily the first time it had been done but it has always been a challenge. Seven of us are going over to Los Angeles for the award as we all work as a team.
"I was always going to do graphics or art of some sort. I was uninterested in anything else and was given the time at Settle in the art room - it was a fantastic place. I would move back up there tomorrow if I could!"
