Two men were arrested when police swooped on a house in Keighley on Wednesday morning as part of a district-wide crackdown on drug dealers and robbers.

One man was found inside the house at Dawson Road, Woodhouse, and the other was arrested nearby.

Both men - one aged 25 and the other 32 - were arrested on suspicion of burglary. They were later released on police bail until September 14.

About 15 plain-clothes officers carried out the operation at 8.30am following a briefing at Keighley police station.

After the arrest officers carried out a detailed search of the property and a number of items used in connection with Drugs were discovered.

Detectives also began a search of a small area of overgrown common land opposite the house where they suspected drugs were being hidden.

Sniffer dogs were brought in to help search the area and the house.

A 33-year-old woman was also arrested from her home address in Woodhouse Avenue, Keighley, for failing to appear at Court.

And addresses in the Lawkholme were searched.

Detective Inspector Sheridan Moor, head of the new district drug team, said: "This has been a successful operation.

"Two men were arrested for burglary and we are now conducting a more detailed search for drugs, which was the purpose of this operation."

Before the operation officers were told at a briefing that there would be two raids in the Woodhouse area of Keighley.

The targets were two men who were suspected of supplying heroin to teenagers on the estate and a woman who was understood to be preparing the drugs for distribution.

The operation was part of the crackdown in Bradford - A Community Against Drugs campaign - which was launched last month and has so far netted more than 30 arrests for drug trafficking offences.

Keighley MP Ann Cryer, who attended Wednesday's briefing, said: "We all have a role in the battle against drug dealers. It is important that everyone in Keighley plays their part and supports the police."

l A woman was arrested after drugs were found during a raid on a home in Newtown Court, Keighley, on Saturday morning.

Bradford District Drugs Team executed a search warrant at the house as part of its Crackdown initiative. The search uncovered 50 Ecstasy tablets, 2oz of cannabis resin, and a quantity of cash.

The 25-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possessing class A and B drugs with intent to supply. She was questioned and later released on bail.
