FOURTEEN-YEAR-OLD Chris Hay has been making waves in the world of Motocross.
Chris, a pupil at South Craven School, has taken to the world of motor sport like a veteran with a string of top finishes in races around the country.
He is currently in second place in the Vale Championship and is fourth in the YMSA Championship.
After taking part in the local junior trials riding scene Chris decided he liked more speed and took to Motocross when he got his first small wheeled competition machine.
But since graduating to his new Yamaha bike he has really taken off in the sport.
Motocross has become a real family affair for Chris, his parents Andrew and Hilary, and younger brother 12-year-old Aaron, who also competes.
"We are converting a lorry to carry the bikes and provide living accommodation when we travel to events across the country, I'm mechanic and Hilary is a marshal at the races," Andrew said.
As Chris prepares to take another step on the ladder to the top of the sport he is looking for sponsors to back his success.
"Everything is very expensive in any motor sport but he has the opportunity to go a long way," his father said.
