REFEREES who ruled local soccer throughout the 1960's and 70's turned back the clock with a reunion dinner last weekend.

Keith Scott, who emigrated to Australia 14 years ago, was back in town on a six week break and his former colleagues among the Keighley & District referees decided it was the perfect opportunity to celebrate.

"We had some great times during those years both among the referees and linesmen - and with the players.

"It was great to get back together again and bring back memories from a superb era in local sport.

"Some of us went to Wembley together and we all had amusing stories to tell from the games we refereed," said Jack Holmes, who is now President of Keighley FA.

Mr Scott lives in the Sydney suburb of Roseville and still officiates in occasional matches.

The referees, and their wives, enjoyed a reunion dinner at Keighley Golf Club with Mr Scott being presented with a momento from the group.

Former referees at the reunion were (from left): Malcolm Walsh, Kenneth Clay, Mick Peckett, Jack Holmes, Keith Scott, Philip Cole, Geoffrey Dyson and Michael Sutcliffe.
