A disabled man was so angry at what he claims were delays and "botched jobs" carried out by Bradford Council on his home that he catalogued them on a website for all the world to see.

Now Colin Chadburn has contacted the local government ombudsman to look into the situation.

Mr Chadburn, 50, claims his life resembled a "television sit-com farce" when Council workmen moved in to make improvements to his terraced home.

He has listed the catalogue of "botched jobs and repair work" on his website.

He claims the work took months instead of weeks at his home in Drewry Road, Keighley.

"I feel that that my family home has been invaded and ripped asunder without regard for my feelings or my lifestyle," he said.

"The sense of not being in control of your own home just has to be experienced to be appreciated.

As a last resort and after three-and-a-half months since his first written complaint, he has appealed to the ombudsman.

Mr Chadburn, who lives with his wife, has a permanent disability. When outside, he needs an electric scooter to get about.

He was certified as disabled in January and won a Government grant for Bradford council to install an external step lift to access his front door.

The project also included building an internal lift and the removal of the bath and replacement with a floor-level shower.

Mr Chadburn set up the website to vent his frustration and to catalogue what he claims are botched jobs.

He said the external lift was too small and began rusting after three weeks. It was returned but left him without stairs or front access for more than two weeks.

Mr Chadburn is angry that the internal lift took two months to fit and was installed in such a place that he cannot fit a dining table in the room.

He said the shower took a month to finish but involved a leak and the partial collapse of a ceiling.

"You wouldn't believe this if it cropped up in a sitcom. I can't understand why it has gone on so long and I feel powerless. I've just had enough," said Mr Chadburn.

A Council home improvement spokesman said: "We have apologised to Mr Chadburn for the length of time the improvement works have taken.

"However, we believe no-one from Bradford Council has suggested that any of these extensive house alterations would take three weeks.

"We have dealt with these problems as they arose and kept Mr Chadburn informed during the process. We have also responded to his complaints on more than one occasion."
