Jamie Lawrence plans to book a holiday to get away from his City injury jinx.
The Jamaican midfielder is out of action for up to two months after breaking the fibula in his right leg at Stoke.
Lawrence has been ravaged by injuries in recent seasons but is trying to put a brave face on this latest setback.
He said: "I've been told not to do anything for the next four weeks while it heals. So I'm going to go off somewhere for the holiday I never had during the summer.
"I can't believe my luck at times but there's nothing I can do about. I was playing all right and the manager was pleased with me but I'll just have to go back to square one and start again."
Lawrence will also miss the chance to add to his 12 international caps for Jamaica, who play India in a friendly next week.
He was injured in a tackle with Stoke captain James O'Connor after his foot got stuck in the turf.
"I tried to get up straight away but couldn't put any weight on it. I knew then that something was broken.
"I thought it was the ankle but it's the fibula which shouldn't take quite so long to repair. I'm out for six to eight weeks which isn't as bad as it could have been."
With Lawrence joining David Wetherall and Wayne Jacobs on the sidelines, City's stream-lined squad is already being stretched.
Lawrence added: "It's frustrating because we've been playing well - although the two goals we gave away on Saturday were really sloppy.
"I don't know how they disallowed Danny Cadamarteri's goal although we weren't helped by two or three of the worst misses I've seen in my life." Lawrence's midfield team-mate Paul Evans will tonight stake his international claim as a makeshift Wales side face Croatia in Varazdin.
Welsh boss Mark Hughes is without nine of his top players - including Ryan Giggs, Craig Bellamy and Robbie Savage - giving the likes of Evans and Cardiff trio Rhys Weston, Danny Gabbidon and Robert Earnshaw the chance to impress.
Hughes said: "What Earnshaw did against Germany, when he came in on his debut and scored the winner at the end of last season and really took his chance to impress, is what I want to see from other lads. To take their opportunities when they arrive.
"It's important that other players are involved and I will be trying to look at as many of them as I can in this game."
