Lee Gilmour reckons Bradford Bulls cannot afford to lose any of their remaining five matches if they are to finish the regular season as Minor Premiers for the second successive year.

The 24-year-old Bulls centre said: "We simply cannot afford any more slip-ups if we are to finish in top spot.

"We need victories to start putting pressure on the teams around us."

The Great Britain international was on the bench against St Helens last Friday - only the third time this campaign he has been among the four substitutes.

And Gilmour said: "I was disappointed to miss out on a big match like St Helens, but Brian Noble said he wanted to give Leon Pryce a go at left centre.

"He also said that I would be back sooner rather than later, but overall I think it was our worst display for four or five seasons.

"We watched the video of the match on Monday and we just let them play the ball too quickly, and it was a snowball effect as we couldn't get back and turn round fast enough."

Gilmour, who was part of the Bulls' great success last Saturday in the Twickenham Sevens, is hopeful that he will be starting on Sunday at Castleford.

"We have a good record there," said the former Wigan player. "But they will be tough to beat. They gave Halifax their heaviest home defeat of the season last Sunday, and we had struggled there the week before."
