Claus Jorgensen has rejected the chance to join Luton Town.
City's out-of-favour Danish midfielder was a target for Hatters boss Joe Kinnear but has decided to stay at Valley Parade.
Jorgensen, who has also been linked with Third Division Hull, has a year remaining on his contract with the Bantams. And despite not featuring at all in the first three games of the season, it seems he is keen to fight for a place.
Jorgensen and Juanjo are the only senior outfield players not to see any action in the opening fortnight. Wayne Jacobs has been out during that time with a hamstring injury.
But the 26-year-old, signed by Jim Jefferies on a Bosman free from Bournemouth 14 months ago, may fancy his chances of breaking into the side with Jamie Lawrence now sidelined for two months.
City are only allowed to buy new players on a one in, one out basis under the embargo imposed after the club went into administration.
But they have been given some lee-way by the Football League with loans and boss Nicky Law is scouring the country to bring someone in, possibly before Saturday's home game against Grimsby.
Law said: "I'm looking at a couple of strikers as well as someone left-sided in midfield. There are a few targets in mind and I'm hoping something might happen soon.
"I've aimed to take in a couple of matches this week to have another look. Ideally it would be nice to get someone in for the weekend but it still needs to be sorted out."
Law recently missed out on Manchester United youngster Danny Webber, who last week re-joined Watford for three months after finishing last season on loan at Vicarage Road.
He also inquired about a well-known Premiership striker who is currently not featuring. But with City's limited finances, it proved impossible to do a deal.
Law said: "I asked if they fancied coming here for a month just to get a bit of first-team match practice. But the cost of his wages was totally out of our range and his club didn't want to fund nearly all of it. We've just got to get on with it and keep looking to find the right player."
