Guiseley go into their game at Ossett Town on Saturday looking for their first UniBond Division One win of the season.
After a 0-0 home draw with Radcliffe Borough and a 1-0 defeat at Workington on Tuesday Neil Parsley's men are looking to pick up maximum points and to break their scoring duck.
Parsley said: "I have been well pleased with the performances against Radcliffe and Workington but have been very disappointed with the results.
"We have taken only one point from six when on reflection with a bit of luck it could have been all six.
"I am delighted with the level of performance we have shown in these two games but I am gutted for the players that we have not more points to show for their efforts.
"If we carry on playing like that then I am sure we will turn things round and get the wins we deserve.
"Peter Atkinson has made a welcome return to the club from Harrogate Town. Our defence needed tightening up after the final two pre-season games against Park Avenue and Gresley.
"Peter has added his experience and athleticism and we are now looking a lot stronger all over.
"James Shutt has made some good saves while Clive Freeman, Gary Shaw, Simon Trevitt and James Nettleton have all played well over the two games.
"They have been two good defensive displays. We have looked strong and organised and our fitness levels have been good.
"We have created a lot of chances and those chances were on target so hopefully everything will come right fairly soon and we will start picking up the points we deserve."
Local lad Robert Pell is settling well at Guiseley and looks to have the makings of a good partnership with Ryan Senior. After hoping for a professional career when he was an apprentice at Rotherham United he had the disappointment of being discarded.
He played Conference football with Southport, had a spell in Norway and returned to play for UniBond side Droylesden. Guiseley have long had an interest in him with former manager Bobby Davison also being an admirer of the big striker.
On the eve of the new season right-back Atkinson - a member of the 1991 FA vase winning team - returned to the club after a successful spell with Harrogate Town.
When Town began a major recruitment drive for their promotion to the Premier Division Atkinson felt his days were numbered and decided to return to the club where he had played over 500 games.
Always a crowd favourite at Nethermoor Atkinson has been welcomed back with open arms.
A new face in the squad is that of former eccleshill and Farsley player Gary Shaw who will be equally at home in a striking role or in the centre of defence.
As well as welcoming new faces Parsley is looking to some of the club's youngsters such as Lee Reilly, Kevin Newhouse, Cory Larkin and Adam Cater to make further progres
