ANDREA Priestley of Ilkley Harriers was in outstanding form at the penultimate race in the British Fell Racing Championships.
She smashed the course record in the Sedbergh Hills Race which had stood for 14 years and she was the first lady home.
Running with great determination, she overpowered all her rivals to clock the impressive time of 2hrs 28min for the 14 mile course which included a demanding 6,000 feet of climbing.
Andrea's performance earned her sixth place overall and put the seal on a good day for her club's runners who were out in force.
There is no official confirmation yet but Ilkley believe that Andrea's performances has helped their ladies take third place in the team event.
Other harriers who ran well were Nick Pearce 57th in 2h35; Jim Ryder 103rd in 2h49; Mike Baldwin 117th in 2h55; Geoff Howard 125th in 2h59 and Alison Weston 126th and 8th lady also in 2h59. Pete Shields was 144th in 3h04; then Norman Bush; Rachael Gooch 3h21; Iain Mann 3h21; James Lind 3h26; Jane Leather 3h28; and Emma Barclay 3h29.
Even further North, Shrley Wood was running in the Eighth Pheonix Long O (navigational) race.
In the 'C' class she had 19km with 1200m of climb, over rough terrain in very hot conditions. Her 4h16min was good enough for 15th place overall, and fourth lady.
