An 84-year-old woman won a garden competition she did not even know she had entered.
Constance Richmond, of Heath Grove, was announced as winner of Morton Village Society's best kept garden competition.
She said: "I was very surprised. I have never won anything in my life. You do not expect to win a garden competition at 84 years old.
"I did not even know they had come round to judge it."
She won £10 gift voucher for a garden centre, and a certificate.
The competition was judged over the spring and summer months. The judge said the winning garden was consistently good throughout the season and was very colourful.
Runner-up was Mrs Braithwaite, of Street Lane. Mr and Mrs D Jefferson, of St Luke's Terrace, came ahead of Mrs B Ralston, of Stocks Hill Close, in the frontage section.
