Cross Roads won their second successive Yorkshire Parks event when their B team won the Wood Cup in the Aire-Wharfe area - emulating their A team which recently won the Brotherton Cup.
They beat Bradford Moor, Pudsey Brit B and Bradford Division Four leaders Greengates by 20 points at Rufford Park.
During a long day Bob Taylor, Brian Greenwood, Paul Cartwright and Scott Bairstow won all their games and old warhorse Donald Varley gave them a match-winning start in the final itself.
Steeton B were also on the cup trail, winning the Supplementary Cup in the Valley when they beat Highfield B by two points in an exciting final. The 'Black Hand Gang' were wearing their new white gloves which did the trick.
In the Valley Cup final Keighley Bowling Club pulled off a surprise win over Bradshaw A at Cross Hills, The Halifax team pulled back the start early on, but the Third Division outfit fought back at the end to win comfortably and lift he trophy for the first time.
Keighley A were the narrow winners of the Skipton Clarkson Cup when they defeated a brave Sutton C team by four points in front of an excellent crowd at Cross Hills.
The underdogs took full advantage of their 115 start and made Keighley fight all the way with young Kevin Mackie winning his game as the favourites went on to complete the double in a game which resembled Custer's Last Stand.
Keighley A are also Skipton Division One Champions again with Silsden PF A just edging out Silsden a and Cononley A as runners-up. Silsden PF B are relegated along with Silsden B who lost by just one point in the final game to condemn them to the drop.
Broughton Road B edged out long time leaders Addingham A to take the Division Two title with Lund B and Cross Hills B being relegated. Settle B are Division Three Champions ahead of Silsden PF C while Addingham C are the league's bottom club but have refused to let it get them down.
Master tactician Ken Brenkley of Cross Hills teamed up with team mate Hilary Seward to win the Valley Mixed Pairs at Highfield. They held out despie a dramtic change in the weather to beat Craig Walsh and Julie Pickles of Keighley 21-16. Losing semi-finalists were Roy Sanderson and Liz Bland, David Hewitt and Hazel Cartwright.
Also in good doubles form were Silsden PF's Graeme 'The Batman' Lomax and Stephen Pickles who won the Skipton Summer Doubles at Addingham. They beat Colin Wortley and J D Smith with some ease. Losing semi-finalists were Chris and Di Slater, Neil Hargreaves and Paul Cartwright.
It is a fairly quiet weekend on the bowls scene this weekend with the Craven Classic continuing tonight and the preliminary rounds of the Dick Keighley Memorial Trophy are to be held in Skipton on Sunday.
The finals of the Johnson, Lambert and Ellis Cups are on August 29 with the Craven Classic Final the following day.
n Yorkshire Ladies enjoyed an excellent victory over South Staffordshire on Sunday winning by 51 points.
"Unfortunately I lost, but thankfully the match was already won by the time I went on to play," said local representative Sue Finnie.
The team is now looking forward to a Roses Battle with Lancashire in the County Championship Final which is being held at the Waterloo Hotel, Blackpool on September 15.
