Service users and carers met health and social care professionals to discuss progress on the National Service Framework for Older People in Kirklees.
The well-attended event gave older people an opportunity to say what was important to them and put forward practical suggestions for improving services.
Keith Smith, Kirklees assistant director for community care services and chairman of the older people's partnership board, said: "This was an excellent example of joint working - not just between health and social care but with the users and carers who receive the services."
Kath Basnett, director of patient experience, added: "Getting the NHS, social services and older people themselves to develop a plan together is obviously the best way to make sure it is realistic and will meet people's needs."
