City want to keep scoring sensation Michael Proctor for another three months.
The Sunderland hitman began his loan spell with a bang by netting the winner at Ipswich on Monday night. It was a dream start for the 21-year-old and Nicky Law is keen to extend his stay at the club.
Proctor agreed a deal initially for a month which will reviewed by both clubs and the player when it runs out. Sunderland are currently paying half his wages.
With City already feeling the heat from another rush of injuries, Law will be hoping Proctor remains fit and is happy enough to remain at Valley Parade for longer.
Despite Sunderland's problems, Proctor is not seen as an immediate answer at the Stadium of Light - and has featured in only one Worthington Cup tie for his local club in four years.
Proctor said: "I've only been at Bradford a few days but I'm really enjoying it. They are a great bunch of lads and you could see the tremendous character of the team in the way they performed at Ipswich.
"Going to places like that is what the First Division is all about and to get the result was just brilliant. I couldn't have asked for more than to get the winning goal on my full debut.
"I was disappointed in the first half when I felt I should have scored at least one. But I was glad to make up for it in the end.
"Everyone was tremendous and even at the end the defence were throwing themselves at the ball.
"I had a good time last season at York and learned a lot. But this is a real step-up and I couldn't have wished for a better start.
"We've shown what we are capable of and now it's up to us to start building on that result."
Law said: "I thought Michael made the difference on Monday. He's bright and trying to make things happen."
City's home game against Coventry on September 7 has been called off because of international call-ups.
Paul Evans is in the Wales squad to face Finland and the visitors have Youssef Chippo and Youssef Safri away with Morocco and Lee Fowler with Wales under-21s.
It will give the Bantams a ten-day break between Saturday's game with Rotherham and the Worthington Cup first round at Wrexham. That will be a welcome breather as the Valley Parade sick bay tries to deal with the sudden influx of injuries.
Law said: "At least Coventry being off gives us a free week. Losing Paul as well and having to play that game would have been a nightmare."
