A snappy new resident is settling into his new home in Heckmondwike - after being rescued from a telephone box at Heathrow Airport.
The three-and-a-half foot long cayman called Snappy has been given to the Ponderosa Animal Sanctuary in Smithies Lane after living at the airport for three years. It is believed the scaly creature had been an unwanted pet and was dumped there by its former owner.
Staff at Ponderosa learned of his plight after receiving some Leopard Tortoises from the airport which had been smuggled in to the country.
Lisa Bownes, supervisor at Ponderosa, said: "They had been wanting to re-home Snappy for quite a while and we have a tank that is suitable for him so we offered to have him here.
"He is doing fine and has proved to be quite popular with the visitors."
