Burley show was hailed as a record-breaking huge success by the organising committee of Burley Gardeners' Assocation.
They praised the large number of entries of flowers, fruit, vegetables, wine and handicrafts.
The number of entries was up again by 43 on last year's show. There were 79 who entered a total of 460 entries in the show - a record number.
All the sections were very well supported with increased number of entries in flowers, handicrafts and produce classes.
As usual the standard of the flowers and vegetables was praised as particularly high.
The photography section was particularly popular with over 40 entries for "Weather" and "A Favourite Garden".
Five rosettes were given for outstanding quality in all areas of the show. The number entering the junior section was up on last year.
Organising secretary Sue Vint said: "Their classes - an edible necklace, a crown, flowers in a jam jar, decorated party buns and an animal made from natural materials - captured the imagination of several youngsters. Making a miniature garden and photography were still favourites."
Their display was very colourful and imaginative. Classes for readers of "The Sprouting Times" (open classes) were well supported including the flower arrangement in a champagne glass with a Golden Jubilee theme. Burley's Doctor Roger Goodwin-Jones presented prizes and trophies for the winners of each section.
The Burley In Bloom Business Floral Display had ten entries this year with businesses hoping to capture the winning diploma for best floral display.
Mrs Vint said: "We were really pleased that businesses joined in the fun and not only supported a village event but also made Burley look superb with baskets and contain-ers full of flowers."
This year new trophies were introduced for Burley in Bloom. In the two sections, The Generous Pioneer public house won the Dennis Robinson Shield for first place in the larger premises sections and Mark Spaul's butchers won the Dick Hargrave Shield for being first in the smaller premises section.
Throughout the afternoon over 500 visitors came to admire the superb collection of produce, flowers, fruit and vegetables.
They also watched fascinating exhibitions of flower arranging, cake decorating, woodcrafts, pictures from the art club and a celebration of Guiding from the Guides and Brownies of Burley.
The auction at the end of the afternoon proved very popular. Most exhibitors donated their entries and the crowds were de-lighted to be able to purchase all kinds of produce.
The committee of Burley Gar-deners' Association is delighted that the show has been another huge success and would like to thank all who took part and at-tended. Next year's show will be held on Sunday, August 31.
