Householders in Addingham are warning of overcrowding and parking 'chaos' if plans to replace a village house with four houses go ahead.
Father-of-three Joseph Tetley says finding a space in the already busy Green Lane will become a 'nightmare' if proposals to build four semi-detached properties are approved.
Leeds-based developer Regent Properties is seeking permission from Keighley planners to demolish the end terrace house adjoining Mr Tetley's property at number 17 to make way for the houses.
Mr Tetley, a builder by trade, said: "They want to demolish number 19, which is attached to ours, and create two bedroom properties on the land, two in the front and two in the back garden.
"We're worried that our house will be very exposed while the other house is demolished and they will have to come onto our property to build the house at the back.
"That will undoubtedly make the garden out of bounds for our three children.
"We are also very concerned about parking because there's just no room for any more cars down here and parking is getting ridiculous as it is.
"With four new properties we will see at least that many extra cars, probably more.
"And with houses to the side and behind us it is going to feel like we're living in a goldfish bowl.
"The house as it is might need a bit of work but is a good family sized property - what they're proposing are a batch of two bedroomed houses that just aren't suitable here."
Mr Tetley and his wife Julia, whose worries are shared by several neighbours in Green Lane and residents in School Lane, which runs behind the street, have lodged their objections with Bradford Council.
Addingham Parish Council, which is consulted over proposed developments in the area but cannot stop them if Bradford grants them approval, has also been alerted.
But councillor Bill Preston said they could not comment in detail yet as no-one had seen the plans in question.
He told the Ilkley Gazette: "Mr Tetley has been to see me about this and we know there's quite a bit of concern.
"We are having a planning meeting this week and we will probably see the plans, and discuss them, then.
"We need to have a proper look at them before we can comment further," added Coun Preston.
