Yeadon faced a number of problems prior to their game against Hanging Heaton on Saturday. With a number of withdrawals from the side they had to draft in second team players and then the second team was left short handed and had to cancel their game at Esholt.
Those who did turn out battled bravely to secure what may be a valuable point as the side battles to retain its Division One status.
Hanging Heaton batted first and made a good score of 246-4. There were early successes for the depleted Yeadon bowling attack with Steve Foster caught behind by Paul Hebden off Jonny Henry for 14 and former Yeadon favourite Steve Bartle being stumped by Hebden off Damon Gormley for 24. However Ishy Dawood (79) and A Bhoite (93) then shared a third wicket stand of 143.
The Yeadon bowlers stuck to their task valiantly.
Yeadon sent out second team skipper Andrew Pickering and Jonny Henry to open the batting. Although Pickering and Waseem Munawar perished early Henry and Damon Gormley stuck to their task. Grant Soames then played a leading role in using up the overs and a commendable effort all round saw Yeadon hold on for the draw.
