A 67-year-old woman was injured during an assault as she walked along the Spen Valley cycle greenway.
West Yorkshire Police said the incident happened as the woman took the path near Whitcliffe Road, Cleckheaton.
She was approached by a man who is then believed to have threatened her and pushed her to the ground, causing minor injuries. He ran off when challenged by a member of the public.
The suspect is described as 5ft 2ins tall, aged between 27 and 30, slim with short black hair and clean shaven.
He was wearing a blue denim jacket, blue jeans and white trainers.
