Nicky Law is talking to Sunderland boss Peter Reid about extending Michael Proctor's stay at Valley Parade.
Law is hopeful of hanging on to Proctor after Reid swooped for strikers Tore Andre Flo and Marcus Stewart.
Proctor has been an instant hit with City, scoring in both his starts so far, and is building a dangerous partnership with Ashley Ward.
His loan runs out in a fortnight but Law wants to increase it to three months.
He said: "It's no coincidence that the two games Michael's played in we've been markedly better. He has brought another dimension out of Wardy and taken a lot of the pressure off him.
"I'm hoping we can get him on a more permanent basis and I'll ask Sunderland about it. Obviously with Flo and Stewart coming in there it's probably knocked Michael back a couple of pegs."
Law and assistant Ian Banks are guests at a fans forum with the supporters club tonight. It takes place in the Sunwin Stand banqueting suite from 8pm.
