A woman pedestrian was killed today in an accident with a car at the junction of Canal Road and the Shipley-Airedale Road, Bradford.
The victim, thought to be in her mid-20s, was pronounced dead at the scene following the accident with a silver Peugeot car near a traffic island on the south-bound carriageway at about 10.30am.
Another woman who witnessed the accident received treatment for shock from paramedics who were called to the scene.
The road was sealed off while police accident investigators started an inquiry into the cause of the accident. The Y-registration Peugeot had damage to its windscreen on the driver's side.
Major traffic tailbacks were caused along Canal Road as police diverted southbound vehicles along Hamm Strasse.
The woman who died has not yet been named by police. The Coroner has been informed.
