A 16-year-old from Guiseley will be calling the notes when he takes over as choir master at Bingley Parish Church.

Talented Christopher Bentley, who will also be the church's organist, has also just achieved grade eight in five different instruments and in singing.

And to top it all, Christopher has just passed nine GCSEs - including four A Star and five A grades.

Christopher, who won an assisted place at Bradford Grammar School when he was 12 years old, is a member of the Bradford Organ Association and of the Royal College of Organists. He is also principal bassoonist with Leeds Youth Orchestra.

His proud mother, Georgina Bentley, of Restmore Avenue, said: "We're very proud of him, but we don't know where his interest in music comes from, we're not a musical family at all. He started playing the piano when he was six and I just let him get on with it."

Christopher, who also sings at Otley Parish Church has already got his sights fixed on a scholarship to Cambridge University.
