TWO of the best days of what has been a disappointing summer brought out the crowds to two Wharfedale shows at the weekend.
The organisers of both Bramhope Show and Norwood Show proclaimed their respective events a smash hit, with bumper crowds at both and a record attendance at Bramhope.
Children and adults had a great day out at Norwood's traditional annual show and sports day held at Norwood Social Hall.
With the golden jubilee as its theme, there were plenty of entries in the handicraft and produce section with a royal theme.
Sarah Jane Patrick, from the show committee, said it had been a very good event and that everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
And Helen Harland, programme secretary for Bramhope Show said that the weather was fantastic and the attendance was a real bonus.
She said that the standard of entries was very high and the Yorkshire Countrywomen's Association, who put on the teas, were over-run.
About six years ago, the show nearly folded, and days like Saturday's event have justified the decision to carry on with the tradition.
