World-renowned musician Frieda Hall has died suddenly at Selby.
As an organist she played the theatre organ at many venues throughout the world and performed at most of the seaside resorts in this country.
In her younger days she played the organ at chapels in Keighley, and she had also enjoyed playing on cruise ships.
A former mayoress of Keighley, she supported her late husband, Allan Greenwood, when he became mayor.
He was a manufacturing chemist with premises off Hanover Street.
The couple lived in Park Lane and when Mr Greenwood retired they went to live in Selby for a few years. They then returned to live in a new bungalow they had built in Glen Lee Lane, before moving again to Selby.
She is survived by two daughters, Frieda and Elizabeth. Following a private committal a memorial service will be held at Selby Methodist Church, at 4.30pm today.
