Bradford's first skateboard shop opened yesterday. The new shop - near the skateboarders' favourite area, Peel Park - sells boards, wheels, safety clothing and sportswear. Mr Lawrence Ellis, 31, a joiner, makes his own boards and fits tracking and wheels supplied by a firm in Leeds. At the moment they cost about £20 each but he hopes to sell at a wider variety of prices, probably between £6 and £80.

Bradford Boys' Brass Band, Britain's youngest competing band, has been given permission to present concerts in Lister Park during September and will give four, the last comprising request numbers. With its members ranging from nine to fifteen years old, the band is said to be unique, and its organiser and conductor, Mr. Arthur Atkinson, has high hopes of it.
