The boss of Keighley Community Transport fears a new school entrance will pose problems for his minibus fleet.

Chairman Brian Hudson is also concerned about the safety of schoolchildren who may use the new gateway in Holycroft Street.

Five industrial units -- including the Community Transport garage -- are opposite the new entrance to Holycroft Primary School. Mr Hudson claims the businesses were not consulted about Bradford Council's plans to change the school access.

Workmen appeared without warning last month to create an opening in the school wall, and businesses this week received letters telling them zig-zag markings would be painted on the road.

Mr Hudson, who is also a Keighley town councillor, said Community Transport used many of the parking spaces in Holycroft Street.

He added: "Our buses are in and out all day long. We're going to have parents dropping-off children and we won't have room for our buses."

A spokesman for Bradford Council said the work included a new car park entrance in Holycroft Street.

"In order to ensure full visibility and pedestrian health and safety, zig-zag markings will be installed."

The spokesman added: "Permission to carry out the markings was given in the original planning permission last year."

Consultations with residents and businesses will take place about the installation of double yellow lines, he said.
