singers and musicians were in perfect harmony as they raised cash for charity.

The internationally renowned Steeton Male Voice Choir invited fellow musical groups to raise cash for the Parkinson's Disease Society with a concert in Haworth Parish Church.

The groups entertained the crowds throughout Saturday afternoon, each doing several 20- minute slots.

And their efforts helped to raise £530 through donations made by music lovers popping into the church during the four-hour event.

Secretary of the Steeton choir Leonard Wilson said: "It was a very enjoyable and very successful afternoon, and considering that there were five groups performing, it all went like clockwork."

He added: "The church was full for most of the event and we had people who had just popped in for 20 minutes and ended staying for the entire afternoon.

"It is the first time we have invited other groups to take part in this event, and we may well be repeating it in the future."

The Steeton choir began the concert in fine style, followed by the prize-winning Keighley women's choir The Holme Singers.

Jens Hislop and his Bavarian Oompah Band were on home turf and provided a dash of something different for the audience with a range of Teutonic tunes.

Younger members of Keighley Amateur Operatic Society were on song with renditions from popular musicals, with elder members performing a selection of solos.

Also entertaining the audience was the Eldwick and Gilstead Male Voice Choir, which has been pleasing audiences for more than 70 years.
