THE headteacher of Ermysted's Grammar School, Skipton, Tom Ashworth, has been signed off work and is awaiting a triple heart bypass operation. It is not expected he will return before the New Year. Deputy head Ian Douglass will step into the role as acting head until Mr Ashworth is fit enough to return. Mr Ashworth is currently well at home in Skipton and frustrated at not being able to be in school. He said he discovered he had angina after suffering pain in his chest while doing sport. The school wished him well. "We miss him and will do our best to keep the good ship Ermysted's on an even keel until he comes back," said Mr Douglass.
