Margaret Robinson of Cracoe has supplied this portrait of the 1st hockey team at Keighley Girls' Grammar School during the 1945-1946 season. She appears, as Margaret Bracken, second from the right on the back row.
She names the others standing, from left to right, as P Turley, M Nicoll, A Rhodes, J Bancroft, J Tillotson and K Andrews. The two seated on the left are R Leech and D Hardy but she cannot recall the other three.
Hockey at the Girls' Grammar School was to be given a boost when Miss Marion Sedman, senior physical education mistress from 1947 to the end of 1948, took part in a film made by the All England Women's Hockey Association and was reserve for the English team. In 1950 she was selected to play in a World Hockey Tournament at Johannesburg.
