Keighley upset the form book by winning the Heavy Woollen Cup in only their second year in the competition, and will be even stronger when they defend next year.
Immediately after beating holders and cup favourites Baildon in the final at Liversedge, Keighley captain and man of the match Richard Robinson confirmed that their former batsman Paul Spragg will be returning to the club next year.
That is great news for the Lawkholme Lane club and will give them a much better chance of achieving promotion from Division Two of the Bradford League in 2003.
Spragg showed he is still a class act by playing a major role for First Division Baildon in the cup final, and was dismissed only four runs short of a deserved century against his old club.
Had Baildon retained the trophy Spragg would almost certainly have taken the man of the match award himself, but in the end the honour went to Robinson, who guided the Keighley side home by six wickets with an over to spare thanks to his unbeaten innings of 61.
