Ann Cryer popped into Eastwood Primary School to do a spot of gardening with the pupils.
After watching the children singing, reciting poetry and reading prose in a mini concert, the Keighley MP went out into the school's new garden armed with a fork to plant a tree.
And not content to stop there, the green-fingered politician went on to plant bulbs in the garden with the children.
Head teacher Lynda Godden said: "Really we are celebrating the fact that all the building work on the learning support centre and the primary extension is completed.
"The tree was a gift to the school from someone who wanted to remain anonymous.
"It's a Joseph Rock, which is a tree that is very pretty all year round. It changes with the seasons, in the winter it has berries. The children thoroughly enjoyed it, they really did."
