Underbank Rangers 8 Keighley Albion 14 - Albion's first team completed a hat trick of victories over Premier Division sides this season when they beat Underbank 14-8 in the Pennine Cup last weekend.
Playing at Underbank the Huddersfield side were the first out of the blocks when they opened the scoring with an unconverted try. James Young replied with a penalty and Jimmy Feather nearly followed up with the opening try for Albion but just missed out on the touchdown following a neat kick through.
Colin Pickles was instrumental in preventing an Underbank score when he held the player up over the tryline and from the next Albion attack Steve Wrench went over with Young adding the goal to take the lead 4-8. Jimmy Feather went close to scoring again and Pickles repeated his heroics from the first half when he pulled another superb man and ball tackle out of the hat to prevent an Underbank try.
Richard Blackburn then took the attack forward for Albion and a neat kick through from him saw Young follow it to touchdown and put the game practically out of reach from the home side.
However, in the closing stages Underbank went over to score to make it 8-14 in favour of Albion however great defence and sensible play ensured the remaining time was played out with another win for Albion and progress into the last 16 of the cup.
Steve Wrench, Ben Farrar and Rob Haughey stood out in another excellent team performance.
Tomorrow they return to league action at Highfield when they entertain Victoria Rangers in a top of the table clash at 2pm. The second team are also in league action with another away fixture at Calder Valley.
Silsden Park Rangers 8
Elland 24
Silsden Park Rangers had a tough task on their hands as they took on Premier Division opposition in the Pennine Cup.
Silsden opened up the scoring early doors with a penalty, which was slotted over by Andy Bowness. Elland however hit back with a converted try to take the score to 2-6. The Cobbydale side sustained continued pressure from Elland, but great defensive work from Danny Horne, Matt Horne, John Williams, Mark Adams and man of the match Mark Ives kept the visitors at bay.
Silsden hit back with powering drives from forwards Mark Stott and Martyn Fryers. A chip through from Jon Gwilliam bounced favourably for Andy Bowness who finished of dramatically with a slide-in try in the corner. Bowness was unable to convert his own try and shortly afterwards Silsden were on the attack once again.
Phil Lane made a surging run down the wing handing off the Elland defence to break clear only to be brought back for a forward pass. A couple of penalties to Elland took the game to 6-10 at half time.
The was also nip and tuck in difficult conditions. Elland were awarded a penalty but Silsden clawed back the two points with a second penalty from Bowness. Elland went on to score a converted try and a score line of 8-18 may have been a fair reflection of the game.
Silsden were unlucky to concede another try towards the end and the final result of 8-24 perhaps flattered the current cup holders.
Silsden will need to keep up this high level of performance tomorrow when they travel to Victoria Vikings.

Siddal B 52
Cowling Harlequin 0
Cowling travelled to the heart of amateur rugby league to take on Siddal B in the Shipley Cup but Siddal produced a performance of exhibition rugby which quite simply shut down the inexperienced Cowling team.
Fielding a side which could easily compete in the NFP. Siddal scored five tries in each half and three goals making the score 26-0 at half time and 52-0 at the final whistle.
Last year's Halifax Blue Sox Super League Player Chris Harding scored two and Chris Holroyd goaled five and scored one try. Other Siddal try scorers were Andy Key, Gary Newburn, Mark Dinsmore, Andy Whitley, Richard Malligrand Dale Sunderland and Dave Copping. Richard Malligrand also goaled.
The Cowling team never gave up and had a purple patch in the second half when Siddal had to defend against sustained pressure for fifteen minutes but the elusive points just would not come.
