DARREN WILSON has taken the Northern Counties Off-Road Trials Championship with style.

Darren (right) and his father-in-law Steve McInnes, who is his co-driver, swept to victory with one round of the event to spare.

Driving their heavily modified Suzuki Jimny off-road vehicle they have ploughed through waist deep mud, forded streams and climbed near vertical slopes on their way to the title.

"I was determined to make any mistakes, and we went into the final round of the event with the competition already won. A customer had already put a deposit on the vehicle so I had to drive with a bit more care, but we still won," Darren said.

His success on the competition circuit has brought rewards for his company KAP with orders for modified vehicles rolling in.

"There has been a lot of interest in the modified Jimny's and we hve been rated one of the top specialists in the country. We are already working on a new vehicle for next year which will be even better," he said.
