People in Keighley will be able to celebrate their town next year on a specially designated day.
Keighley Town Council has named Wednesday, March 19, as Keighley Day.
The day was chosen to mark the date that Keighley was granted a town council but the first celebration will take place on Saturday, March 15, as March 19 falls on a Wednes-day next year.
Councillor Joyce Newton told members it would be "a day to celebrate the people in Keighley, the history and mixture of people in the town".
The town council has organised a torchlight parade, based around traditional music and dance, to mark the event and members plan to organise more attractions.
They are appealing to people from all communities to come forward with ideas.
Coun Newton said: "We are looking at things like a children's fair, with rides for small children.
"We want to involve the residents of Keighley. This is their celebration."
Coun Newton said Keighley people should be proud of the ethnic diversity in their town.
She said: "We want people to come up with ideas on how to celebrate Keighley. Perhaps we could have a 'Best of Keighley' or 'Keighley firsts', like the first Italian family, the first Asian family or the first Ukrainians."
