A nursing home worker was stunned to find three screws in her take-away meal.
Suzanne Wilson - who is five-and-a-half months pregnant - discovered them in her KFC fries when she sat down to eat her lunch at work at Ashcroft Nursing Home in Undercliffe.
She said: "I just could not believe it. It's shocking that this sort of thing could happen."
A spokesman for the restaurant in Greengates said a member of staff had been suspended after the incident.
A colleague of Mrs Wilson had bought the meal from the KFC drive-through in Harrogate Road, Greengates.
Mrs Wilson, pictured, said when she received the food she could hear something jangling, which at first she thought was loose change.
She said: "When we sat down there were three screws in this box of chips. I was flabbergasted and my first thought was that it was lucky a child had not eaten them. I could have broken a tooth or something much worse."
Mrs Wilson contacted the restaurant and said she had been told a worker had removed the screws while cleaning a machine and put them into a bag used for serving food.
Supatim Ded, assistant manager at the Greengates store, said: "We have apologised to her and said we would give her a complimentary meal. It was a tremendous mistake and quite unacceptable." He said the member of staff had been suspended and they would be looking to bring in supervision to ensure nothing like this could happen again.
A Bradford Council Environmental Protection spokesman confirmed the matter was under investigation.
