An end to the bakery workers' overtime ban before Christmas was forecast today by Mr John Davis, regional officer at the Bakers' Union. At bakeries in Bradford, like the rest of the country, an increased offer by the employers is being circulated to members and a shop-floor ballot will be taken.

A crowd of 2,000 sang carols round Wibsey's Christmas tree as it was dedicated and illuminated with a simple ceremony. The tree has been paid for by subscriptions of people living in the village. It is roughly 40ft. high and has over 300 lights. The crowd watched the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Alderman John Shee, switch on the lights and joined in prayers led by the Rev. A. Beever.
