Cleckheaton traders are fighting criminals with the help of shopwatch radios.
Spenborough Chamber of Trade bought them with the help of a £2,000 grant from Kirklees Community Safety.
The new walkie-talkie-type radios will help traders hear of any problems.
Cleckheaton's beat bobby, PC Phil Mulhall, also has a radio so he can hear of potential problems.
Chamber president Keith Joplin said he was extremely pleased the radios were being launched in the run-up to Christmas. "We have bought the radios to ensure Cleckheaton stays safe for shoppers," he said. "Most crime is at night. We never seem to have trouble when the shops are open and the radios will help us keep it that way."
