Veteran school governor Jim Britton has been honoured by Bingley Grammar School.
The school's new library has been dedicated in Mr Britton's honour. He has been chairman of governors at the school for 20 years.
In a short ceremony attended by school governors, a plaque was unveiled by John Cock, vice-chairman of governors.
Mr Britton has led the governing body throughout a time of great controversy and his chairmanship has spanned three head teachers.
Head teacher John Patterson said: "The most challenging time for him came in 1991 when he led the school into Grant Maintained status, amid enormous local controversy."
The school has also celebrated the work of Shirley Airey, a former pupil who is retiring from the governing body after 20 years.
