A family repeatedly targeted by burglars have been given a surprise Christmas gift by a Bradford security company.
Staff at CTS Ltd in Wyke learned of the problems Mary and John Fieldhouse were facing after reading about their latest break-in in the Telegraph & Argus.
The couple, of Wrose Road, Shipley, were living in fear and had to have their locks changed after burglars stole their house keys on December 7.
And their wheelchair-bound granddaughter Chelsea Senior, who lives with them, was marooned at home after their specially-adapted vehicle was stolen and badly damaged.
It was the third break-in the family had suffered in seven months.
Richard Wolfenden, managing director of CTS Ltd, in Able Street, said he wanted to give the family some reassurance.
"It makes me angry to see something like this happen. I want them to know that there are some good and caring people on their doorsteps," he said.
He has arranged for an engineer to fit a 24-hour security system at their home for a year.
It opens up a two-way communication channel between the family and CTS staff should any break-ins, fires or medical emergencies occur.
"We're taken aback with their generosity. It's like a fairy story ending to the hell we've been through over the months," said Mr Fairhouse.
"We feel more reassured and can go out a bit more. And there won't be the constant worry of going back to a burgled home.
"It's the perfect Christmas present."
The couple have also received welcome news from their insurance company which has notified them that their car will be repaired by December 30. They had originally been told it would not be ready until after New Year.
"We've had to cancel trips out because the courtesy car only has two doors and it's hard lifting Chelsea in and out," said Mr Fieldhouse.
"And it's hard to fit the wheelchair in. It's a real strain on us," he said.
A spokesman at Motability, which provides the Fieldhouse's car, said it had been unable to provide the family with an adapted courtesy car due the "dramatic cost" to stock them.
But Mr Fieldhouse added: "We're not going to let this ruin our Christmas plans. Even if we have to get a taxi, we're going to get to our parties no matter what."
