At this time of year the only thing most youngsters think of doing with paper is tearing it off their presents.
But nine-year-old Joseph Thorpe from Haworth has taken a more ecological approach.
The green youngster has enlisted the help of fellow litter-busting classmates at Haworth Primary School to collect scrap paper for recycling.
And with the help of a Worth Valley councillor they have managed to get the school its very own recycling bin.
Joseph said: "I started collecting paper that was put into waste baskets and took it to the recycling bin. I started a recycling team at school and we got some litter pickers to start collecting rubbish in the school grounds.
"The school didn't have a recycling bin so we approached Bradford Council's recycling unit to see if we could get a bin at the school."
With the help of Councillor Glen Miller and the recycling unit the school had a recycling bin delivered.
Joseph's dad Steve said: "I think its good that he's come up with the idea of recycling and actually done something about it.''
