A former pupil at an Ilkley preparatory school has surprised his old head teacher by returning to present a 'thank you' rose.
Lloyd Almond, 12, presented the Christmas gift, named Happy Child, to Reverend Alex Munro at Clevedon House Preparatory School last weekend.
On leaving Clevedon House last September, Lloyd was one of the School's pupils who gained a bursary at Woodhouse Grove School.
His mother, Diane, said: "Clevedon House was a very supportive school and without their help my son would not have reached the standard expected for Woodhouse Grove in order to secure a place along with a music scholarship."
Lloyd came armed with a short speech explaining why he wanted to make the presentation.
He said: "I would like to present this rose to the school for being so nice. I liked all the sport and the school is very good for teaching music too.
"I loved the way in which all the boys and girls mixed in together and shared in each others games. I really enjoyed my time here and I am delighted to present this rose as I, and a lot of other children, were so happy at Clevedon House".
Rev Munro said he regarded the gift as a very thoughtful present for the entire school. He said: "While the school excels in all academic subjects, and not just those in the National Curriculum, Lloyd was a credit to Clevedon House's arts and sports departments. However, I believe schools are not only duty bound to provide all the ingredients for a successful education but also an atmosphere where a pupil can flourish. This is only possible if that pupil is a happy child."
