Detectives are investigating the cause of a blaze which has badly damaged Shipley's old fire station - the second major fire in the town in three days. Three Green Goddesses, one from Shipley and two from Bradford, raced to the two-storey stone building in Windsor Road when the alarm was raised by two patrolling police officers.

Regular passenger trains will run for the last time at Baildon and Cleckheaton Spen stations tomorrow. British Railways has found that dwindling use has made the stations uneconomic. Baildon station will continue merely as an unstaffed public delivery siding.
