Bradford Bulls star Leon Pryce appeared in Crown Court today over an alleged glassing incident in a city nightclub.
The 6ft 4ins international winger, dressed in a black suit and overcoat, spoke only to confirm his name during a five-minute hearing in courtroom number five.
Stephen Gration, prosecuting, said Pryce (pictured) was charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm with intent following an incident on September 14.
Pryce, 21, of Warburton Place, Wibsey, Bradford, is alleged to have glassed a man in the Walkabout nightclub in the city's West End.
His barrister, Nigel Edwards, told the court that, at this stage, Pryce indicated he would plead not guilty to the allegation although no formal plea has been taken.
Mr Edwards also said that he might make an application to postpone any future court hearing which clashed with a Bulls match.
Judge Rodney Grant said he was entitled to do so but stressed he would give "no indication" as to the outcome of the request.
He adjourned the case until March 17 when Pryce is set to formally enter his plea. He was released on bail on the condition that he does not contact any of the witnesses involved in the case.
