You can't put a price on victory, but a win for Avenue tomorrow could help them on their way to £2,500.

That is the balance of the Rory Prendergast transfer that will be paid if Accrington Stanley get promoted - and Saturday's opponents Vauxhall are the biggest threat to that happening.

A spectacular FA Cup run, which saw a historic victory over QPR, has left the Merseyside team with games in hand over the side in the driving seat and winning them all would see the Motormen go top.

So Avenue, in order to protect their investment, will be keen to throw a spanner in the works as they seek their first league win since November 9.

Promising signs were there in the abandoned game against Harrogate Town and the draw at Stalybridge last week, so boss Trevor Storton will be looking for a solid performance against the league's form team. "I am very positive about the new year," said Storton.

"I am looking to bring in another defender very soon and I am very happy with the couple of lads we have brought in.

"With the money situation here it is difficult to find the players you want but we have done well with Simon Collins and Andrew Wright and I think they can help the team."

Despite Vauxhall flying high in the table, Storton has no fear for tomorrow's game.

"They look a decent side and did well last year," he added.

"But I will be looking to get a result from this game. I thought last week we just shaded it in the second-half and on our day we are a match for any team in this league.

"With the players we have here I honestly think we can get something from this. I am feeling very positive about the club at the moment."

Apart from long-term casualties Jason Maxwell (fractured cheekbone) and Martin James (back), Storton can pick from a full side for the clash.

Teenage striker Anthony Bingham returns from suspension as does Phil Lindley, whose one-game ban was carried over from the Harrogate game to last Saturday's draw.

Storton is expected to keep the same side from last week although substitutes Andy Quinn and Matt Daly are a lot closer to full fitness after recovering from ankle and hamstring injuries respectively.

Lutz Pfannenstiel, given mouth to mouth on the pitch after a frightening Boxing Day injury, is expected to return in midweek for the UniBond Cup clash with Ossett.
