PLANS to replace Royd Hill Nursing Home in Sutton with a purpose-built 60-bed care home with a close care unit have been submitted to Craven District Council.
MMNH Limited of Cleckheaton wants to build the development on derelict land off Bridge Road, adjacent to the cricket ground and the beck.
The scheme includes 73 parking spaces and landscaped gardens.
The plans state that the new facility will replace Royd Hill Nursing Home and 60 staff will be transferred. The new home will employ 100 staff.
The front elevation will be two-storey with the view to the rear being of a four-storey building. The home will be designed in a U-shape and include a clock above the entrance.
A meeting is planned on Monday to allow residents and parish councillors to question developer Philip Bergen. It will be held from 6.45pm at the senior citizen centre in the village.
Chairman of the parish council Steve Morrell has expressed his concerns about the use of green field sites in the village.
He said: "If they are intending to build on a green field site they will have to put forward a rock solid argument or they will have a fight on their hands."
The land is currently derelict but was designated for industrial use when Silentnight holdings vacated the site.
