A 21-year-old Shipley man who burgled a house while he was still on licence from a previous sentence has been jailed for two years.
Lee Tarn, of West Royd Avenue, Windhill, was sent to a young offender institution for three years in 1999, but was released on licence in April 2001.
He still had the outstanding period of that licence hanging over him when he carried out a break-in at a terraced house in Constance Street, Saltaire, last January.
Prosecutor Gerald Hendron told Bradford Crown Court yesterday that Tarn's fingerprints were found on a carrier bag in the house, but he was not arrested in connection with the burglary until November.
Tarn pleaded guilty to the burglary when he appeared before Bingley magistrates and they committed his case to the crown court for sentence.
Judge Linda Sutcliffe ordered Tarn to serve six months of the previous sentence and a further 15 months for the latest burglary.
She also revoked a current community penalty and imposed an extra three months in jail for an offence of aggravated vehicle taking.
Barrister Jonathon Gibson, for Tarn, said that although he had been released in April 2001, he had not committed any burglary offences again until January. He urged Judge Sutcliffe to deal with him on the basis that this was a one-off offence rather than a case of a persistent burglar who was offending again.
