A drink-driving crackdown by Dewsbury police on Christmas Eve afternoon paid off as no road traffic accidents were reported in the division.
Road traffic officers were out in force to try to reduce the temptation for motorists to drink and then drive home.
Sergeant Alan Kaye, road traffic commander of the division which includes the Spen Valley, said the afternoon was traditionally the worst time of the year for road accidents nationwide, but he was delighted there had been none this year.
"We put a ring of steel around the division, targeting the town centres and major roads," he said.
"I'm pleased that, through the local media, people have taken note.
"All we wanted was to ensure that people got home safely on Christmas Eve to enjoy the festivities."
Two people were arrested for driving while disqualified, eight speed warnings were given, two motorists were reported for driving with no insurance and four fixed penalty notices were issued to people not wearing seatbelts.
