A mother who was told there were traces of asbestos in the ceiling of her eight-year-old son's bedroom has said she fears for her child's safety.
Carol Shields, of Wenborough Lane, Holme Wood, reported a leaking roof in her Council home last August - but after several visits by workmen, was only told about the asbestos this month.
She said workmen had been to look at the property a few times and claims that in November a piece of black sticky tape was placed over the hole.
"The amount of rain that comes through is quite a lot at the moment and I don't know whether the ceiling is going to collapse," said Mrs Shields. "I am not sure if any asbestos is coming down through the leak.
"I can't move Joseph into the other bedroom as my 12-year-old daughter Laura and two-year-old daughter Georgia share that one."
She moved into the house about 18 months ago with husband Anthony and the children and they have had a problem with leaking windows too.
Mrs Shields, 30, who is seven months pregnant, said: "I have waited five months for the problem to be solved. I am not an impatient person but the ceiling is dipping and my son's health may be at risk."
A Bradford Council spokesman said: "Repairs to the roof of the house were carried out in November and we have now received another call from Mrs Shields indicating there may still be a problem. An official is due to inspect the roof again today and, if any repairs are required, they will be carried out.
"During inspections of the house, traces of asbestos were found in the textured coating on a bedroom ceiling.
"There is no immediate danger to health and work is due to be carried out to remove the coating and re-plaster the ceiling on January 13 and 14."
Councillor John Ruding (Lab, Tong) said: "It is not acceptable to have a leaking roof, especially in winter.
"If I am contacted by the resident, I will be happy to speak to her and look into the problem."
