Bradford Park Avenue's UniBond League Challenge Cup third-round tie with Ossett Town at Horsfall Stadium tonight is in serious doubt because of the deep frost.
The probable postponement will come as a disappointment to manager Trevor Storton but he says the squad have been boosted by the full recovery of keeper Lutz Pfannenstiel after his injury ordeal on Boxing Day.
"Lutz trained with the rest of the lads on Monday night and they were glad to see him back in action," said the Avenue manager.
The big German stopped breathing after a crunching collision with Harrogate Town's Clayton Donaldson and had to be given mouth to mouth three times by physio Ray Killick before the paramedics arrived to take him to hospital.
The Premier Division match was abandoned but Pfannenstiel was allowed home the same evening after treatment.
"It was frightening to witness and the game meant nothing after that," said Storton. "We couldn't have carried on. It was quite upsetting for the rest of the players, from both sides, and very stressful.
"But it has all turned out all right and the lads were made up to see him going through his paces on Monday. It lifted everyone.
"If tonight's game is on he will be in the squad. In fact we are doing pretty well injury-wise at the moment. Apart from Jason Maxwell, who has a fractured cheekbone, and Martin James, with his back, we have a full compliment.
"They will be out long term so for the time being we have as many players available as possible. But in all honesty I can't see the Ossett game going ahead. There is still a covering of snow and the ground is rock hard."
Skipper Wayne Benn said: "We trained on the pitch on Monday and it was treacherous. We had a little five-a-side game and it was hard to keep your feet.
"If it's off because it will be almost a fortnight since we played a game."
