Many customers of collapsed Keighley travel firm Skyline Atlanta are unlikely to get their money back.
Holidaymakers who paid the company by cheque or cash must wait until liquidators are appointed.
But even if customers make a claim they are unlikely to succeed, warns Keighley Citizens Advice Bureau.
The 16-year-old firm specialised in carrying people to and from airports across the north of England.
Many were stranded over the Christmas break after vehicles failed to turn up on time and telephone numbers became unobtainable.
Drivers were laid-off in mid-December and Skyline's offices in Dalton Mills, Keighley, closed soon afterwards.
Customers and former staff have since been unable to find the owners, Dave and Karen Simms, who are believed to live in Rochdale.
Many holidaymakers are owed around £60 each and local taxi firms -- who carried some customers -- are owed thousands of pounds.
The Simms took over Skyline Atlanta Travel about four months ago.
Keighley CAB says that for people wanting their money back from the firm, the important factor is how they paid for the transport.
If booked as a package through a travel agent, they should make a claim on their travel insurance.
If they booked with a credit card and it cost more than £100, the card company might make up the loss.
If people paid using cash or a cheque, or paid less than £100 with a credit card, they must wait until liquidators/receivers are appointed.
The CAB says: "This should be advertised in the local paper and everyone should contact the receivers to put in a claim along with all the other creditors.
"Unfortunately, it is unlikely that people will get their money back through this route."
